Something that came up on the radar was afd.sys. AFD stands for "Ancillary Function Driver", and it provides functionality for Winsock (part of networking).

One person who had an issue like this posted in BleepingComputer.com, and their Internet no longer worked until they replaced afd.sys with a known good one from the winsxs subdirectory. The bad file did not have "Microsoft Corporation" on it.

This is one of those files you see and recognize but don't necessarily know what it does. It may or may not have been an issue in this case.

I felt compelled to write this after seeing a job ad that said, "No critical thinking required." I am not making this up.

An update: I did give Repair Ticket for the iPhone a whirl, and it does seem to do all it says can do. However, the invoice form is a little too inflexible for me. The emphasis is on hourly contracting, which might be fine for some people, but several work items I do are fixed rate. Fixed rate items are always a bit of a risk (for the contractor), but it also gives the customer assurance that the cost of the service isn't going to exceed what the unit is worth.

While I'm at it, I've noticed several of these iPhone apps aren't very flexible on sales tax. I services more than one county, so the tax rates vary and need to be recorded by county.

In addition, there are some I just plain won't even try. They are touted as free, but require online accounts. However, what do they do with your data? How is it free? Very suspicious if you ask me.

SOPA strike is very successful.. this is because of the unity of all onliners and website owners.
