Geek Friday: iFixit Troubleshooting and Repair Resource
There are various, and useful I should say, web resources for repair manuals and items out there. However, rarely do you see one site where you can both order tools and download videos/manuals. Well, when I heard of iFixit, I assumed it would just be another site with tear down videos, and I did specifically want to see one on there. However, I noticed that they also have parts and tools, manuals and forums to ask about troubleshooting.
They don’t just have computers, either. In fact, I wanted to see an iPad teardown. They also have guides for cameras, phones and game consoles. They even have a vehicle repair section! Now, how cool is that?
Some Resources for the Unemployed Boomer
Usually, I like to post online resources for small businesses. However, today I would like to post a link for those in this economy who are still dealing with unemployment.
In ABCNews.com article “Finding Jobs Now: Silver Lining for Older Workers”, Tory Johnson covers what she calls the baby boomers’ “refusal to give up”. While discouraged workers, those who have given up finding work, cross the spectrum, it is much lower in this demographic.
What’s nice about the above article is that it not only gives a few hints for older job seekers, but it lists resources geared towards them.
I hope that someone finds this information useful.
Computer Resource
I want to take a little time to acknowledge that a good web resource for personal computers. It has forums covering operating systems, hardware, software, viruses and more. There is a wealth of information about viruses alone. It’s called Bleeping Computer. A suggested bookmark, whether you are a pro or the average user.
Best of all, it’s free!
