Local Spotlight: Corned Beef Cafe

Occasionally, I like to highlight a local business.  I’m a small business owner, and this is more than just another technology blog.  It is also about local businesses.  It’s nice to marry them up when possible, but sometimes it is nice to divert just a bit from the main path.

Last week, I had a hankering for a reuben sandwich, and there are 2 locations around Broadview Heights I like to go for one.  The closest one to me is the Corned Beef Cafe, just south of SR 82 (Royalton Road) on SR 176 (Broadview Rd).  From SR 82, head south on Broadview Rd and get in the right-hand lane.  Go just past the Del Corpo Home & Garden Center, and just where the road narrows into 2 lanes, it is on the right.  It shares a parking lot with Graziana Tailoring.

In addition, I have been taken there for Father’s Day a few times in the past, and there’s nothing like corned beef hash with eggs for breakfast.

They are open for breakfast and lunch.  The Corned Beef Cafe closes at 1 pm on Sundays and 2 pm all other days.

BTW – the website entry on MapQuest.com is incorrect at the time of writing this article.  Please note that the correct website address for the Corned Beef Cafe is www.cornedbeefcafe.net.  The other appears to be a parked domain.

Local Spotlight: Toons4Troops.com

The May 2010 BroadView Journal did a story on Judy Nash, who is a caricature artist in Broadview Heights. I recently saw her at a business meeting in Richfield, and I was intrigued by her Toons 4 Troops program.

The goal of the program is to send a picture to soldiers by military family members in order to lighten their day and remind them of their loved ones back home. This service is free for military families.
