We went to his place and did a virus scan as well as fixed a couple of software and hardware issues. BK rated us as “excellent” in all categories. In particular, he liked the “professional demeanor/communication”.

Customer Testimonial: AP

AP is retired, and he mostly uses his computer to read email and browse the web. I know AP personally, so I’d better get this job right!

LS is a teacher by trade, but has decided to stay home to raise her family for now. She rates herself pretty highly on business software such as a word processor, etc. Her husband found our ad on the Internet.

LS rated us as “excellent” in all areas. She particularly liked the fact that we are friendly and our pickup and delivery service.

Customer Testimonial: MH

Today, I’d like to highlight MH and her customer testimonial. This is sort of an odd one. She’s actually married to JH, who already gave his. Because he’s working and going to school, something I can relate to, I’ve been giving them free work for most items. MH gave me her feedback after another job. So, they are 2 testimonials, right?

OK, before I confuse myself any more, here is MH’s feedback.

MH works part time cleaning houses but otherwise is a stay-at-home mom. One of the items I helped her with was securing her wireless network after getting a new laptop.

I know both MH and JH from church, so she knew of my services pretty soon after I went into business for myself.

She rated us a 5 for professional! That’s what we strive for.

She liked the fact that I was able to come over so quickly. To be fair, though, they don’t live that far away, so I would expect to be able to come over quickly as long as I wasn’t on the road.

Thank you, MH for your feedback. It’s been a pleasure to give back to the community, and I hope all your computers keep running well at least until JH graduates.

Note About SurveyMonkey and Customer Testimonial: RL

I know, I keep promising to post more of these, but then I get behind. On the plus side, that means, hopefully, that I’m also busy giving you information you need in your home or small business.

For example, it should be pointed out that the response for this was gathered electronically using SurveyMonkey. There are a lot of survey sites out there, and some of them are really expensive. SurveyMonkey allows you to run short surveys requiring only a few responses for free, so you can try before you buy. Because of the cost factor, I’ve only ever tried one other site, but I like SurveyMonkey over it. Feel free to plug your favorite survey gathering tool in the comments, but please be sure to include the cost.

Now, to the testimonial!

RL rates herself as being able to browse the web and send email. Although she did work in an office for a while, so she may be selling herself short.

She rated us as “Excellent” in all categories, which we obviously like to see. In particular, though, she liked the convenience of coming to her home instead of having to take her computer apart and into a shop.

To be fair, though, she did ding us for not knowing how long the fix would take (and, therefore, how much it would cost). Naturally, we would love to be able to troubleshoot all problems right away and be able to spend more time fixing verses diagnosing problems, but as a result of her feedback, we have started emphasizing to our customers now that diagnosing the problem is a fixed cost. Then, once we have diagnosed it, we can give you a better estimate for remedial work.

This is why we appreciate feedback. It is our privilege to improve our service wherever we can.

Customer Testimonial: JH

It’s been a while since we’ve done a customer testimonial.  We are still trying to work out the right questions to ask as well as come up with an automated questionnaire to give to our clients.

JH tells us:

I am currently in school so I need my computer to work right and efficiently. I have only a moderate knowledge of computers and much of what I learn is through trial and error.

I’ve known JH for some time now, and when he had a problem, I was glad to lend a helping hand.  Since he is a student and has a family, I cut him a break and offered my services to him for free.

I received help with several things: A slow operating computer, finding a driver for a scanner, help with updates, and help with assisting my parents in setting a wireless network.

I tried to help JH out on the phone for his parents’ computer, but for some reason the screens were different.  So, I asked him to come by on his way home.  It turned out that the install CD for the wireless USB adapter overrode the Windows wireless configuration.  So, I configured it to use the Windows configuration instead, and when he took it back, it worked like a charm.

I am very pleased to report that JH said “Not applicable” about what he liked least about the service.  When asked what he liked the most, he said:

When asked if he had any other comments, JH said:

Customer Testimonial: MM

A new category for this blog is the customer testimonial. We are a local company, and one of our goals is to help build a sense of community. So, we will occasionally highlight a customer’s feedback.

MM had a problem with her phone and computer. She only had intermittent connectivity, and her phone had no dial tone. This is a little off the beaten track of what we normally deal with, but MM was getting nowhere with the telephone company and we thought we’d help give MM a hand.

We should give a disclaimer as well. Because of her recent employment difficulties, we did not charge MM for this service. However, we did not ask for her feedback until the work was already done. We are pleased to report that she gave us a 5 out of 5 for professionalism!

When asked what she liked most about the service, she answered:

Reliability. John said he would be there at a certain time and he was. And of course I liked that he fixed the problem!!

When asked about if there was anything else she wished to share with the company or blog readers, MM reported:

I would recommend John D’s service to anyone. I myself like to use businesses that my friends have used and recommend. It’s scary to just open a phone book and choose someone at random. John was respectful when he came in not to track anything in my house, he brought the right tools to diagnose the problem and set to work to correct it. He even cleaned up any mess he made. It was a great experience.
